This value can be increased to 10 to improve the effects of "Jitter" in digital recording.

Overlap collects additional frames before and after a block of data to ensure that each block can be put together correctly. Typically if you hear pops, clicks, jitter or other artifacts in your music (and assuming it's not from a badly scratched CD), Overlap can help smooth out these problems.
