Threatening or Harassing Messages
Unfortunately, there are some crazies and nasties on the Internet, just like in real life. If one of them gets a hold of your contact information, and starts sending threatening or harassing messages, you should do the following:
- Don't respond. Not ever.
- Save and print copies of the messages, and forward them with a note of complaint to the person in charge of the server where the e-mail is originating from. In most cases you can reach someone in charge by addressing the mail to the System Operator (Sysop) at whatever the domain name is.
- If the messages actually threaten harm, get the police involved. Don't take chances.
