GOODIES - DESK ACCESSORY


     The idea of having a single desk accessory that provides 
multiple functions is not new, and recently commercial programs 
such as Harlekin] from HiSoft have made the idea popular. Here at 
ST USer we searched through the Public Domain to find the best 
multi-function desk accessory we could find.

     Goodies provides all the functions that you could need inside 
any application. Listed below is a brief explanation of the 
features of Goodies.

RAMDISK

     Ramdisks are always useful, wither for aiding file copy 
operations on a single drive machine, or for storing temporary 
workfiles. Goodies allows you to set both the size of the disk and 
it's identifying letter. If you install a ram disk, then remember 
to install an icon on the Desktop to allow you to access it.

PRINT DIRECTORY

     Goodies will let you print out a complete directory of ant 
disk, either hard or floppy. This is extremely useful for keeping 
track of which programs are on which disk.

SET TIME

     When you first boot up with Goodies installed, a dialog box 
gives you the option to change the system time, a useful option if 
your ST doesn't have a battery backed up clock.

SET DATE

     Like Set Time this option is displayed when your first boot 
up.

BACKUP

     Back up selected files from hard to floppy disk (or floppy to 
floppy) whenever you need to with this handy function.

UNDELETE

     If you accidently delete an important file, then Goodies will 
get it back for you. Simply enter the complete file and pathname 
for the lost file, and Goodies will do the rest.

FILE COPY

     An improved version of the GEM Desktop filecopy routines, 
this function will copy individual files much faster than GEM.

from end, available from the Desk menu under the GOODIES entry.
