If you plan for taxes throughout the year, youÆll spend a lot less time overall preparing your taxes. Tools located on the Tax view of the Home page can help with your tax planning.

Estimate your taxes. Even though you might have a full tax year ahead of you, running the Tax Estimator does much more than just calculate a bottom line. You enter tax-related data about yourself, such as your filing status and dependents. Money associates standard tax-related categories with tax form lines. You can also make your own associations if you like. For more information about categories, click Managing Your Accounts in the left pane of this UserÆs Guide, and then click Categorize transactions.

Track tax-related information. While the Tax Estimator does much of the work, you can also use the Tax Line Manager to verify that your income and spending categories are assigned to the correct tax lines. Double-click any category to see individual transactions and details. Keep your eye on totals, and make any necessary adjustments.

Track taxes and other deductions from your paycheck. If you itemize your payroll deductions, including tax withholding and contributions to a retirement account, youÆll have accurate figures in Money automatically to help complete your taxes at tax time. For information about itemizing your paycheck, click Organizing Your Accounts in the left pane of this UserÆs Guide, and then click Recurring paychecks.

Update tax law data. Tax laws change from year to year. When you run the Tax Estimator, the latest tax information is automatically downloaded from the Web. This keeps Money current with up-to-date tax rules. You can also do this yourself. Click Set up Money to match my tax situation, and then click Download the latest tax data from the Web.
