Allowable deductions, and the rules governing them, can change from year to year. Use the Deduction Finder to identify all the deductions you might be eligible for. Answer a questionnaire, and then get a summary that indicates possible deductions you can take, along with their associated rules.

To find tax deductions
  1. On the Taxes menu, click Deduction Finder.
  2. Click Get Started, and then select the check boxes that apply to you.
  3. As you finish each page, click Continue. Money lists deductions you might be eligible to claim. When finished, the Deductions you may qualify for page appears (see Figure 5-1).

  4. Review this list to understand the rules and limitations. The IRS form and IRS publication numbers are included with each possible deduction.
  5. If you want to print the deductions list, click Print at the bottom of the page.
  6. Click Done.
