If you have a Hotmail or MSN e-mail account, you already have a Microsoft Passport. You can sign in to Money using your e-mail name and password.
Microsoft Passport is the technology Money uses to secure your data and give you access to convenient online features.
In general, Microsoft Passport consists of three main services:
It's easy. There's only one name and password to remember, and after you sign in to one participating site or application, you can sign in to others with just one click.
It's fast. You can safely store financial information in your Passport wallet, so you won't have to retype it when you visit or make online purchases at participating sites.
It's more secure. Your personal information is protected by powerful encryption technology and strict privacy policies. You always control which sites have access to your information, including your e-mail and mailing addresses. And, when you sign out, all of your Passport-related personal information is deleted from the computer, which means it's safe to use on public or shared computers.

Note If you have a Hotmail or MSN e-mail account, you already have a Microsoft Passport. You can sign in to Money using your e-mail name and password.
If you already have a Passport that you use with an online financial feature, such as MSN Money Synchronization, you should use the same Passport with Money.
If you have an existing Passport, Hotmail, or MSN e-mail account, and if you share access to your Money file, choose a Passport that has access to information (such as e-mail messages) that you're comfortable sharing.
You may want to create a new Passport just for Money and its associated online features.
And, of course, if you don't have a Passport, Hotmail or MSN e-mail account, it's easy to create one.

Learn about security and privacy in Money
Money wants you to experience all the convenience of online finances without worrying about the security of your data. So, Money has taken several steps to keep your data safe and completely under your control. To read Money's full security and privacy statement, click About Microsoft Money on the Help menu, and then click Privacy Statement.
Passport: The first step you can take is to password-protect your Money file using Microsoft Passport. Microsoft's encryption technology makes Passport both extremely secure and easy to use. If you forget your password, Passport simply verifies your identity using a secret question that you create when you set up your Passport. Then, you can set a new password.
Storing financial data on MSN Money on the Web: It's also a good idea to upload your account information and portfolio to a secure site on MSN Money on the Web. You'll have the conveniences of working with your data from any Web-enabled computer. A single Passport protects the online data as well as your Money data. And, if something happens to your home computer, such as fire or theft, you will not lose access to important financial information.
Background banking: It's easy to use Money when you download your transactions from your financial institutions. All downloads into Money are protected with 128-bit encryption technology, as well as the logon data required to access your accounts. And after you download, your Passport keeps that data safe from unauthorized persons, whether they may break into your home or break into your computer from the Internet.
MoneySide: The data that you see in MoneySide is secure. To see it, you need to sign in using the Passport you use for your Money file. Also, the data comes directly from your Money file. Your financial data cannot be uploaded or used by a Web site without your specific permission. Also, no Web sites have access to the information in MoneySide.
Important Money's security and privacy policy does not apply to Web sites you view using Money's Web browser. Security for those sites depends on the Web site provider.
