- Understand how any existing systems, often referred to as legacy systems, fit into the organization.
- Derive system requirements.
How to Staff
A person acting as a business designer needs to be skilled in expressing himself or herself in writing. Although knowledge of the business domain is good, it can be covered off by involving domain experts as reviewers. To conduct the tasks of this workflow detail, you also need people who are familiar with the current set of systems used in the organization, and also people knowledgeable about implications of any new technology being considered.
