A small duck with a reddish brown head, a green wing patch, and an iridescent green line through the eye. Length: 34-43 cm; weight: 340-360 g. Audio 2 (M. Oberle). Breeds in wetlands through much of North America and Eurasia. An uncommon winter visitor in wetlands on Puerto Rico, such as at the Humacao Nature Reserve.
