A short-necked, dark goose without the white cheek of the Canada Goose. Length: 55-66 cm.; weight: 1,200-2,250 g. Audio (M. Oberle). Breeds in northern North America, Greenland and Siberia. Winters in coastal areas of temperate North America. Accidental in Puerto Rico, where a single bird was photographed in December 1977 at the mouth of the Yagüez River in Mayagüez.
