A black head and chestnut belly distinguish the male. The female is yellow with two white wingbars on the gray wing. Length: 15-18 cm.; weight 16-26 g. Audio (M. Oberle). Breeds in the eastern USA and northeastern Mexico. Winters from southern Mexico to Venezuela. Accidental in Puerto Rico (Culebra, 13 September 2003 until 4 January 2004). TAXONOMY: PASSERIFORMES; ICTERIDAE. |
