Parecida a la Gaviota Gallega, pero con una banda blanca separando la punta negra del resto del ala dorsal color gris. Los inmaduros tienen una banda negra en la cola excepto en las plumas mßs externas. Tama±o: 32-38 cm.; peso: 220-335 g. Anida en las praderas del centro de AmΘrica del Norte y tφpicamente inverna en la costa del Pacφfico de AmΘrica Central y del Sur.
