I haven't got the time to write an essay about CoSH's CrackMe 1.
However just a few things about 'the crack':

The protection is a simple FileCreation-Test (CreateFileA; 401374);
he uses 'fake' CD-Checks using the GetDriveType-Function.

If everything is OK, flag will be set and then a simple CMP as
the REAL CD-Check. Could be an example of a poorly protected
game like most M$ gamez ... they normally just use the
GetDriveType-Check.
