Hanami Screen Saver: User Guide

Install/Un install

There is no installer necessary for Hanami. Hanami does not need to be installed or un installed. The program does not require any DLL's or other application dependent things. If you want to remove Hanami you can safely delete the folder with Hanami.

To install the screen saver simply copy or drag the file named "Hanami screen saver" to your "Windows" directory if you use Windows 95/98, or the directory "Winnt" if you use Windows NT.

Settings

The Hanami screen saver has it's own settings, separate from the regular Hanami desktop enhancement. You select Hanami as your screen saver by opening the "Display" control panel from the Settings. You then click the tab "Screen Saver", where you can select Hanami as your screen saver. If you click the button labeled "Settings..." you get a special Hanami settings dialog where you can specify your Hanami screen saver settings. Note that the settings for the screen saver are separate from the regular settings, so you can have different settings for the screen saver and the normal Hanami. The screen saver comes in two versions, one for systems capable of displaying more than 256 colors, and one for systems that can show only 256 colors.

The only difference with the regular Hanami is the "Picture" button, at the bottom of the dialog window. You can have a picture on the desktop, with cherry blossoms falling over it. The picture must be a bitmap (.bmp) file, as you can create with the Paint utility. By clicking the button you can select a .bmp file for display in the background. Try running Hanami with a nice picture on the desktop, for example a picture with a forest or Mount Fuji!

Note that the picture must be the size of your screen. It is not scaled to fit your screen. (Scaled pictures usually do not look very good.)

If you want a single color on the desktop you can make a .bmp bitmap file with the paint utility with the color of your choice. Simply select it with the Picture button and the desktop will be that color. If you do not specify a picture the desktop is a simple gray.
