Tutorial Overview The tutorial assumes that you are now at the Main Menu. In general, whenever you are asked to select a menu item, you will click the left mouse button or press the key. To scroll the map hold down the right mouse button or use the arrow keys when the cursor is at the map edge. The tutorial will, for the most part, assume you are using a mouse. Play Mission Tutorial This tutorial will guide through the steps of how to setup and play a single mission. Select the "Play Mission" option and choose the mission named "1AW260." The Mission Screen will now be displayed. The clan picture of Rokan appears in the upper left corner. To the right is the mission briefing. Under the clan picture appears the clan name followed by the attitude level rating of the clan towards you. The left side of the scale means the clan is very angry with you whereas the right side means the clan is very pleased with you. The facial expression of the clan is an indicator of their attitude towards you as well. In the bottom left corner is the mission information showing that your mission is "Ward 50%", which means that you must escort 50% or more of the VIPs off the map through the Ward Exit areas (green squares on the bottom map edge in this mission). Next is "Price: 260", which means that you will be paid a total of 260 coins if you successfully complete your mission. If you fail your mission, all you receive is the downpayment. The next number is "Down: 104", which means that you will receive 104 coins as the down payment amount. The last item is "Time: 45", which means that you have 45 hours to complete your mission. Select "Accept" to play the mission. Next a message comes up to remind you to buy your troops first. Click the left mouse button. You will now see the map displayed in the Area View. At the top of your screen you will see a line of blue boxes. These are the Entry squares through which your troops will be deployed. Directly under the Entry squares, you will see 15 green squares representing the VIP Lightning Wizards awaiting your troops to escort them through the mountains to safety. Click on the "Zoom" icon (it has a magnifying glass with a "Z" on the icon). Place the magnifying glass cursor near the blue squares and click. You are now in the Local View. Click on the "Help" icon (it has a question mark on the icon). Place the question mark cursor on top and click. A window will appear informing you that the terrain at this location is weeds, the group in the square is composed of Lightning Wizards, and its current orders are "Go to location." Click the button to clear the window. Click the button again over the Goblin Slaves group. The gray squares from the group and heading to the South represent the path the unit will take. Click on the "Buy" icon (it has a "B" on it). A window will open, showing the troop types available for this mission. The numbers next to the troop type is the current price per troop. To see the other statistics click on the other options: COUNT (number of troosps bought), SPEED (how fast the group travels with 1 the fastest and 6 the slowest), ATK (the character’s attack rating), and DEF (the character’s defense rating). Note that at the very bottom of the window are two numbers. The first is how many coins you started the mission with. The second number is how much is left on the current mission, which is the mission payment minus the cost any troops that are bought. You should have 10000 coins to start with and have still 260 coins for the mission. Click on the troop Human Elite; it should now be highlighted in yellow. Click on the "+" in the "- 10 +" button box. Next click the "BUY 10" button. The map again appears allowing you to now deploy the group. Place the cursor beneath the Lightning Wizards and click. The group should now appear on the map. Click on the "BUY" icon again. Click on the "COUNT" button. The screen should show 10 Human Elite. The bottom number on the window shows 190 because you spent 70 coins to buy the 10 Human Elite. Click the "ESC" button located in the upper left corner of the map. Click on the "Zoom" button. The Strategic View now is displayed. Your Human Elite and wizards are located at the top map edge under the blue squares (Ward Entry area). At the bottom of the map are green squares which represent the Ward Exit area. To succeed on your mission you must exit off the map at least 50% of your VIP slaves. Next you will give both of your groups orders to move toward the exit area. Click on the "Zoom" icon. Place the magnifying glass near your troops on the right map edge and click. The Area View is displayed. The Human Elite group is highlighted yellow which means it is the active group to give orders to. Click on the "Go" icon (it has a "G" on the icon). Move the "GO" cursor to the bottom middle of the map edge and hold the right button down scrolling the map until you reach the green Ward Exit squares. Place the cursor on a green exit square and click. You have just told the Human Elite to move to the exit area as shown by the gray path squares. Click the "Report" icon (it has F2 on the icon). Select "Group Report." Highlight the Lightning Wizards and click. The map should show the Wizard group highlighted in yellow which means it is now the active group. Click on "Zoom." Place the cursor near your troops and click. Click the "Go" icon. Again move the cursor to the green exit area and select a green square to move to. Click on the "End Placement" icon (F1 is on the icon) and answer "YES" to "Done buying troops?" A "Game Paused" message will appear. Click the button. Click on the "Pause" icon (with the "P" on the icon). The units will now begin to move and your mission is underway. Click on "Pause" again to stop the execution. Click on the "Zoom" icon. Click on the "Zoom" icon again and place the cursor where your units are and click. You are now in the Area View where you can see a good portion of the map. Click on the "Pause" icon to continue play. When you see red ambusher groups coming close, pause the game again. You might need to scroll the map if the units leave the map screen. Click the "Zoom" icon and place the cursor where your units are and click. During the ensuing battles you may let your wizards aid your elite troops in fighting. If they cause enough damage, they will cause the enemy to retreat. You can then resume your journey to the exit area. If you wish you can click the "Exit" icon (it has an "X" on it) to force all your troops to head for the closest entry/exit area (make sure you are closer to the exit area). The game will now display a final mission report. During the battle, you might want to issue commands to both your forces in order to keep your Elite troops in between the enemy and your VIP Wizards. Remember you need to exit 8 of the 15 Wizards to be successful. The Interface The Cursor The cursor is normally composed of four small arrows pointing inward and is used to point to units, locations, icons, or words. At certain times it is temporarily replaced by another cursor (selecting entry or exit square(s), choosing the "Go" command, etc.). Scrolling the Map You can scroll the map displayed on the screen, in order to see more of the map, by pressing and holding the right mouse button and dragging the mouse to the edge of the screen in the desired direction. You may also use the "Zoom" icon to view the map in three different modes: Strategic View, Area View, and Local View. The Strategic View displays the entire map, the Area View displays a more detailed map with each unit shown, and the Local View has a very detailed map with individual character icons shown (you can also see the effects of combat with arrows/spears, etc. being displayed). Making Menu Selections You can choose most menu selections by placing the mouse cursor over the word and clicking the left mouse button. If the "ESC" icon is visible on the screen (even if other windows are being displayed), you can click on the "ESC" icon to escape the menu. The first letter of the word in the menu is the searchkey. Pressing a letter of a menu word will highlight the next word starting with that letter. The arrow keys also move the highlighted menu option. Pressing either or will select the option chosen. The "ESC" key will normally exit most menus. Command Icon Hot Keys Keyboard equivalent Hot Keys for the Command Icons are displayed on the Icon itself (as in "Z" for Zoom Map). Pressing the keyboard hot key performs the same action as clicking on the icon. ESC Escape Key S Stop F1 System D Divide F2 Report M Merge F3 Histogram F Follow ?
