Notes (File 2 of 9)

All information in the notes to the printed catalogues was transcribed into machine-readable form except the numbers in the General Catalogue of 33342 Stars for the Epoch 1950 (GC) for stars for which no additional information is given and the numbers in the Catalogues of Stars Suspected of Variability (Kukarkin 1951, 1965) with no ranges given. In addition, ADS numbers or names from the WDS were added for systems with two components with the same DM number in the catalogue. Notes were also produced for Trans. Astron. Obs. Yale Univ. 32, Part II. These notes primarily include variable star names for records in which the magnitude in the catalogue is 30.0 and double star names for stars with two DM components in this volume. The information in this file is also given on microfiche to provide hard-copy access. No field is blank in this file, but bytes may be blank. If the I format is used, zeros may be substituted for blank bytes, but the meaning should be obvious.

The following table describes the format for the notes. The first eight bytes are identical to the first eight bytes of the corresponding record.
