UNIX Fundamentals

Key Objectives
- Learn and practice the skills necessary to become productive in the
UNIX environment.
- Use the commands, tools, and utilities that are part of the UNIX
system.
- Gain a foundation for continuing UNIX and Open Systems training.
Course Overview
This course introduces those familiar with other operating systems
to the UNIX operating system. The student will learn to describe the
features of the UNIX system, including the file system, I/O, shells,
portability, and file tree structure. Use of directories, file types,
and pathnames are also discussed.
Audience
This course is designed for systems users and programmers
migrating from other operating systems to the UNIX operating system.
Prerequisite
None (experience with other operating systems is
