Configuration Manager
Configuration Manager snapshot (about 16.2K)
A key requirement for DCE administration is centralized management. Configuration Manager, part of the DCE Cell Manager toolset, lets you monitor and manage the cell from a single machine. With it, you can
- Stop or start DCE on cell hosts
- Configure or unconfigure cell client hosts
- Check status on selected cell hosts, periodically and on demand
- Check, set, and synchronize time on cell hosts
- Check and modify RPC mappings
Configuration Manager features include:
- A customizable display to show just the host information you want
- Sort, filter, and search functions that help you target the appropriate hosts
- Multiple targeting that lets you operate on several selected hosts without complicated interactive command-line sessions
- Task-oriented menus that display the proper options for the entries you select
- One-step combination of underlying DCE commands whenever possible to decrease your task-completion time
- On-line help that promotes hands-on learning and rapid task completion
- An editable command history option that lets you save a particular command set to a file
- Session information that lets you know when your current ticket expires
- Built-in electronic postcard for sending comments and reports to Customer Support
Keeping up with the brands of DCE installed on your multiplatform environment can be time-consuming. With Configuration Manager, you don't have to track down the implementation specifics from different DCE vendors to configure a client host into a cell. For remote management and monitoring of a multiplatform, multivendor DCE environment, Configuration Manager is the only choice.
