Control Point Version 2.1 currently provides Network Management support for Solstice SunNet Manager 2.0 running SunOS 4.1.x, support for Solstice SunNet Manager 2.2 running SunOS 4.1.x, and Solstice SunNet Manager 2.2 running Solaris 2.3 (using binary computability mode). Control Point manages the Network 9000 Routing HUB, and standalone equipment by providing a point and click graphical user interface for chassis management and internal segment connections. Control Point provides a detailed GUI representation of Xyplex repeaters, routers, and terminal servers for both standalone and chassis based products. By creating a chassis ICON on the MAP, the user can start Remote View, a Xyplex GUI application that will auto-discover devices located within the HUB and populate the MAP with all devices found in the HUB. The GUI itself will poll all devices in the HUB, or standalone devices, and provide a visual means for identifying device, port and power supply status. For detailed management, Control Point provides the following applications:
When Remote View is launched from a Xyplex ICON on the MAP, it will bring up a GUI representation of standalone devices and Network 9000 Chassis. By creating a single front card within a chassis, the user may poll the chassis and auto-create the rest of the chassis as well as populate the MAP.
