Birth Entries in a
Family Bible Record

Bible Records

Old family Bibles contained pages with space to record births, marriages, and deaths.
Births recorded in a family Bible can be as brief as the one line entries in the example or long and informative.
If the Bible was published after any of the birth dates recorded for family members, it is obvious that the entries were not made when the events took place. the entries may be only as accurate as the memory of the person who recorded them. If the entries were made later, make sure to mention this when passing the information on to others!

Most birth entries in a Bible don't mention where the person was born. You can check census schedules, land and tax records, and other records to determine a birthplace.
