Marriage Certificate

Marriage Certificate

Generally, only one copy is made of a marriage certificate and on the day of the marriage ceremony, it is given to the bride and groom.
In a few locations in the United States, the county clerk kept a marriage certificate register, but the information recorded resembles the facts found in a book of marriage licenses.
Some certificates give more information than the one above, such as ages and names of parents.
Look for marriage certificates among family records. If you find one, do everything you can to preserve that one-of-a-kind document.
