Mexican War
1846-1848

 
The Mexican War began on May 13, 1846 after ten years of skirmishes between Mexico and the Republic of Texas. Designed to settle border disputes, the war ended with the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hildago on Februarry 2, 1848. The treaty established the Rio Grande River as the border between Texas and Mexico and ceded the California and New Mexico territories to the United States.
