Communicants List

Communicants

Communicant lists can include a variety of information, but at a minimum give the names of church members who took communion on a specific date.
Not every church kept lists of communicants. You may find them among the records of churches whose founders originated in a German-speaking country, such as the Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed churches.
Many communicant lists group families together, state relationships, and ages.
A communicant list may be the only record that gives the maiden surname of an ancestor's wife.
