Paulson In 1733 a site for constructing a praying house for the Swedes and Finns living in Petersburg was allotted in Bolshaya Koniushennaya Street to the order of Tsarina Anna Ioannovna.In 1803-5 a new stone Finnish church was built on the site called the St.Maria Church. In the late 19th century the church underwent reconstruction involving changing the interior spacing and partial remodelling the facades (architects K.Anderson, later - L.Benois). In the 1920s interior reconstruction was undertaken, that divided the whole volume into three stories.
