St.Petersburg is a year-round attraction. In Winter you can go skating or ice-fishing, take a ride on Finnish sled, and ski. End of Winter is marked by special festivities: riding in horse- drawn sled ("troika"), snow-ball fights and the traditional "blini" (pancakes) are served. In the Spring the open-air stadiums start their soccer season. Rowing, yachting and cycling are the favorite spring sports. In Summer the White Nights Music and Arts Festival runs from the end of June. You can spend a white night on a ship sailing out into the Gulf of Finland. There are fireworks at Petrodvorets, "the town of fountains". Autumn brings "red leaves" season to beautiful parks of St.Petersburg suburbs. But the Autumn is mostly rainy and cold. The theaters and concert halls are crowded.
