Its features include multiple phone books, up to four numbers per entry, automatic redial of busy numbers, and call logging. The Caller ID lets you know who is calling before you answer. An icon in the system tray lets you know that calls were logged while you were away from the computer. Sound options allow playing a different .wav file for priority callers. Place and receive calls using the full featured speaker- phone. Phone Plus is TAPI compliant and can share your modem with other TAPI programs. ----------------------- 2. System Requirements ----------------------- - 80386 required, 486 or higher recommended - Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 95 - VGA or Super-VGA monitor - 2 MB (minimum) of free disk space - A mouse or equivalent pointing device In addition, the Caller ID and Speakerphone features require: - Microsoft(r) Unimodem V universal modem driver - A TAPI compliant modem with Caller ID or speakerphone functionality - Caller ID service from your phone company Phone Plus will run on Windows NT, however the version of Unimodem that works with Windows NT does not support Caller ID or a speakerphone. ---------------- 3. Installation ---------------- If you are using a previous version of Phone Plus, do not uninstall it. This would remove the configuration settings. Simply install this new version over the old one. First, extract the files to a temporary directory. You can delete this directory when setup has completed. Run Setup.exe and follow the instructions. Use one of these methods to run Setup.exe: - Select Run from the Taskbar Start menu, type the full path of the temporary directory followed by a backslash and the name of the installation program (e.g., C:\TEMP\SETUP.EXE). Press the ENTER key. - Use My Computer or the Explorer to find the Setup.exe file. Double- click the icon to run it. Setup only adds one icon to your Start button, so you may want to add it to an existing folder rather than create a new folder. The setup program will give you this option. You can uninstall Phone Plus by double-clicking on "Add/Remove Programs" in the control panel, selecting Phone Plus in the list, and clicking the "Add/Remove" button. After uninstalling you may have to manually remove the Phone Plus directory and any files left in it since the uninstall does not remove any data files that were created. ------------------- 4. Troubleshooting ------------------- If you are using a modem with Caller ID or Speakerphone capabilities and have problems using these features, be sure to read the help topic "Troubleshooting" in the chapter "About TAPI". ----------------- 5.
