By Golly if you can perform the two steps above, we think you will be very impressed! 5. Troubleshooting --------------------- If you are unable to see the tutorial or your calendar through your browser, here are some things to check: On some computers with dial-up access to the Internet, you may get no respone when you type in the URL http://localhost. Should this happen, try first connecting to the Internet, and then re-trying the above URL. This quite often occurs with IE 3.0. If you have an existing web server (such as Microsoft IIS Server) running on your computer, you will have to change the Port setting in iCal's Listener tab. Try using a higher number such as 82 or 85. Then, in your browser, you will need to type in: http://localhost:82 (or change the 82 to match what you typed for iCal's port number) If you are in an Intranet that uses a proxy server you will likely need to make some settings to your browser. The method for doing this varies depending on your browser. For Netscape Communicator 4.0 you would 1) Select Edit/preferences from the menu 2) click advanced 3) click on Proxies 4) The Manual Proxy configuration will check. Click on the view... button. 5) In the "Exceptions" add the IP address of your machine, or the remote machine if iCal is running on another system. For IE4.0 you would 1) Select view/Internet Options... from the menu 2) click the Connection Tab 3) Under Proxy Server click the Advanced button 4) In the "Exceptions" add the IP address of your machine, or the remote machine if iCal is running on another system. 6.
