NFTP manual (main part)

KEYBOARD COMMANDS SUMMARY

All interaction with NFTP is keyboard-based; there's no mouse support (and I am not going to implement it -- at least now). This approach is somewhat tough for novice user, but after some learning it gives the best results in terms of usability and interaction speed. Here is the list of keystrokes ("hot keys"); it's divided into several sections each pertaining to specific mode of operation or action classification.

Starting from version 1.20, new defaults were introduced. Old keys still work, but several ones have changed their meaning. This move is a tradeoff; the problem is that many keys cannot be entered under Unix. E.g., Alt-Fx, Ctrl-Fx, Shift-Fx are usually identical to Fx (Linux console produces different codes for Shift-Fx and Fx, but that's all I found). Besides, I had to use uppercase letters as hotkeys. Please learn to always leave CAPSLOCK off. Quick search is activated by lowercase letters. Online help shows new defaults without mentioning old ones.

Keys which have been changed are:

F6
was "rename file/directory", now "Upload" ("rename" is now Shift-R)
F1
was "concise keyboard reference", now "context sensitive help" ("concise keyboard reference" is now Shift-K)
Ctrl-V
was "show version information", now "view file with internal viewer" ("show version information" is now Ctrl-W)
Ctrl-A
was "enable/disable automatic switching to control connection window", now "select all files" ("enable/disable automatic switching to control connection window" is now Shift-J)
F2
was "select local drive", now unassigned -- will be needed for feature not implemented yet ("select local drive" is now Shift-Z)

Old obsolete keys which still work are in italics except specified as former.
