The Magic Hand is finally here! And you now have it! /====================================================================\ | THIS .CON HACK IS NEITHER MADE BY OR SUPPORTED BY 3D REALMS. | \====================================================================/ Title : The Magic Hand v1.0 Filename : MAG_HAND.ZIP Files in .ZIP : MAG_GAME.CON, MAG_DEFS.CON, MAG_USER.CON, MAGSTONE.GIF, MAGBOOK.GIF, MAGFIRE.VOC, MAGHIT.VOC, MAGHIT.WAV, GODSFX.WAV, TILES009.ART, TILES010.ART, TESTMAG.MAP, and 2 batch files, MAGIC.BAT and MAGMAP.BAT (whew!) TESTMAG.MAP is a sample map that will let you try out the magic (and make sure the hack works properly). Type "MAGMAP testmag" to use it. Author : BMF54123 (Robert Flory) E-mail : bmf54123@hotmail.com Web Page : Not yet, maybe soon, maybe never... Misc. Author Info : 18, male, single, from Spokane, WA, likes pizza and long walks on the beach...oh! You mean what I do in my spare time? I make Duke stuff, surf the 'Net, draw stuff (comics), and most importantly, upgrade and tweak my computer whenever possible! Other Levels/CONs : None yet, perhaps when I actually finish some... Description : Shazam! Turns the shrinker/expander into Duke's hand, which fires magic blasts with unpredictable effects! Turn enemies into ammo, Rubbermaid trash cans, exploding barrels, or piles of doo-doo...or even absorb their health! And much more! But be careful, Duke's not exactly Merlin. Sometimes he'll mess up and create another enemy, or the magic will backfire and hurt him! Or sometimes his target will just explode, damaging everything nearby! If you happen to find a mysterious stone, however, Duke's magic power will improve, and you'll be able to turn enemies into something good every time! How To Use It : Type MAGIC to start, or MAGMAP and the name of a map to use the hack with a user map. To load the sample map, for example, type: "MAGMAP testmag" (without quotes) Important Notes : I've included the Magic Book and "mysterious stone" .GIF files by themselves instead of putting them into TILES000.ART. This saves a lot of space, considering they're the only two tiles that should be changed in that file. To use them, just load MAGSTONE.GIF into Editart in place of the GROWAMMO graphic, and MAGBOOK.GIF in place of the SHRINKERSPRITE graphic. I've pre-sized them so they can be imported easily. * DON'T E-MAIL ME WITH EDITART QUESTIONS! * Go to www.dukeworld.com and read some FAQs if you don't know how to import art, or if you are having trouble making the program work. Additional Credits To : Asbestos, for supporting me through this project and for posting this hack on his page, everyone at the Dukeworld forum for helping out with various things, 3D Realms for an awesome game (can't wait for Duke Nukem Forever) and the original art in the 2 included .ART files, and everyone else who helped out, but I didn't mention here. ====================================================================== * Play Information * Plutonium Pak Required : Yes (needs the expander) New Art : Yes (the mysterious stone, the magic book, the electric charge on Duke's hand when he uses magic) New Music : No New Sound Effects : Yes New .CON Files : Yes, most definitely! Demos Replaced : No ===================================================================== * Construction * Base : Changed for 1.4/1.5 from an old 1.3D hack I made Text Editor(s) Used : DOS Edit Art Editor(s) Used : Editart, Dr. HALO IV Construction Time : Hard to say. The original was done sometime last year. Known Bugs/Problems : When enemies are zapped with the "blue hand" magic, they move backwards, sometimes into walls. If you know what's wrong, e-mail me so I can fix it! (You'll get credit in the next version!) Currently, the magic affects Duke the same way the shrinker does, it just shrinks him. I might not change this, because some areas require you to shrink yourself by reflecting the beam off a mirror. I might consider changing the expander effects, however, since there's no area where expanding yourself is necessary. This modification would only be useful in DukeMatch, though, since expander beams don't bounce off mirrors. E-mail me if you discover any more bugs. * Where to get this hack * File location : Asbestos' Duke Nukem 3D Page (www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Stadium/8200) Of course, if you already have this file, that's pretty obvious, eh? ===================================================================== Thank you, come again! :)
