Display Issues:
You must have the latest version of you browser in order to properly view the content on the CD. We've included recent versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator on the CDs under the Browsers directory.
Obscured Display
- This CD was created with a complex HTML "Frame-Set." Be sure that you are using a "Frames compatible" Internet browser, such as the one's we've included above.
- Make sure that you "maximize" the view window of you browser when checking out the CD.
- Be sure your screen resolution is set to at least 800x600. This can be adjusted by clicking on your "Start" button and selecting "Settings", then clicking on "Control Panel." Now click on "Display" and select the "Settings" tab. Be sure that the "Desktop Area" slider is set to At Least 800 by 600 pixels and click on "OK." Be sure you click "Yes" when the computer asks if you are sure you want to keep the setting.
Graphic Misalignment
- Unfortunately, certain browsers will display the high-resolution graphics used in this CD improperly. This will not affect the functioning of the CD in any way. Microsoft's Internet Explorer (included above) will eliminate any graphic misalignments you may be experiencing.
Software Issues:
You must have a "unzipping" program such as PowerArchiver or WinZip in order to use the programs included on the disk. We provided both on the CD under the Zip directory, or you can simply click on the links above.
If, after reading the following tips, you are still stuck, we highly recommend visiting the ZDNet Easy Download Guide
Getting the programs from the CD
- Internet Explorer can take a moment or two to begin transferring data from the CD. Bigger files can take up to 10 seconds to display the download dialog.
- Be sure you are putting the files somewhere that you can find them. The programs on this disk won't automatically install to your hard drive. You must "download" them to a directory on your hard disk, and then run them from Windows explorer (accessible from the "Start" menu).
- If you're having trouble with a link to our web site, please be patient. Because of the high traffic that ZDNet experiences, it's possible that the servers are temporarily slower than usual. Trying again in several minutes usually solves the problem.
Running the programs
- Each of the programs on this disk have specific "system requirements" which are listed on the file description page of each file. Be sure that your computer meets (or, preferably, exceeds) these requirements.
- Sometimes, you will need to re-start your computer before you can run a program.
- If you're still having trouble running a particular program, try going to that programs author's web site for help. Usually there will also be an e-mail support address provided within the programs readme.txt file - try writing the author for help if you are stuck.
System problems
- The best thing you can do is contact the author of the software that caused the problem. Unfortunately, because Ziff-Davis didn't create the programs that are on this disk - we cannot help fix any problems that might occur with your system while running them.
- If, for some reason, a program is giving you problems, and you can locate any contact information for the author, we'll be happy to provide you with a support number or e-mail. Simply e-mail us at ZDCD@ZD.COM. Please include the name of the disk AND the "premium number" of the disc (printed on the disc or the sleeve, something like: P60C), as well as the name of the program that is giving you trouble. We'll respond to you as soon as we can!
