Button Button Name Description

Applet Button

Every Java applet or ActiveX control in the run-time environment is represented by an applet button on the main screen. The button indicates the applet name, its type (Java or ActiveX control), and security status (green for non-suspicious and red for suspicious).

Help Button

Displays the online help.

Statistics Button

Displays statistics regarding:
  • Memory in use by Java applets
  • Number of applets running
  • Number of security exceptions
  • Media Tracker

Kill All Applets Button

Kills all Java applets and ActiveX controls, removing them from the run-time environment.

Open/Close Log Window Toggle Button

Opens or closes the Applets Activity Log .

Refresh List Button

Refreshes the list of current Applets .

Settings Button

Opens the Settings window.

System Danger level bar

Displays the total weight of security exception attacks.


Browser protection indicator

Indicates whether the browser is currently protected by SurfinShield Xtra:
  • A smile icon indicates that the browser is protected
  • A ‘sad’ icon indicates that browser is not protected
  • (If no icon appears, this is a temporary state meaning that the browser has not accessed yet a page containing a Java applet or ActiveX control.)
