SYMPTOMS
If you repeatedly stop and restart the message transfer agent (MTA) when
there are a large number of messages in the inbound or outbound message
queue, the MTA may not close properly when you attempt to close it.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server
version 5.5. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. service
pack for Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5. For information on
