Apply Ease Curve or Multiplier Curve

GENERATE/B_EASEAP2.gif

Creates an ease curve or multiplier curve track. Once you apply an Ease or Multiplier curve, you can edit its keys, ranges, and properties just like any other animation track.

This button is a flyout that contains two functions:

Ease Curves

Ease curves vary the timing of a superior function curve. A normal function curve charts an animated parameter value over time. An Ease curve charts changes to the time of a function curve over time.

Multiplier Curves

The value of a multiplier curve is a scale factor applied to the value of its superior function curve.

You apply Ease and Multiplier curves in Function Curves mode. Once you apply an Ease or Multiplier curve, you can edit its keys, ranges, and properties just like any other animation track.

Reference

Apply Ease Curve: Applies a curve to alter time of the selected function curve.

Apply Multiplier Curve: Applies a curve to scale the value of the selected function curve.

How To

To apply an Ease Curve or Multiplier curve:

  1. Activate Function Curves mode.
  2. Select a controller item in the Hierarchy list.
  3. Not all controller items can receive Ease or Multiplier curves. For example, the Path position controller cannot receive an Ease or Multiplier curve, but its subordinate Percent controller can. If the selected controller is incapable of receiving Ease or Multiplier curves, the buttons are grayed out.

  4. Click Apply Ease Curve or Apply Multiplier Curve.
  5. The ease or multiplier curve appears as a subordinate item to the selected controller.

You can apply ease and multiplier curves to most controllers in 3D Studio MAX. This includes applying ease or multiplier curves to other ease or multiplier curves. Experiment with this technique to produce complex effects.
