Allows you to view a real-time AVI preview of the effect of animating the material on your sample sphere (or cube or cylinder or custom object).
Without this option, the only other way to preview a complex animated material in real time is to render a sequence with the scanline renderer to either an AVI file, to a digital disk recorder, or to a video tape recorder.
When the preview is complete, 3DS MAX starts the Media Player with the preview file loaded and ready to play. This animation is named Medit.avi. You can also open the Media Player with the last preview loaded by selecting the Play Preview flyout button. To save the preview, select the Save Preview flyout button.
The Create Material Preview dialog has the following options:
Preview Range: Specifies the frames to be included in the preview, either the active time segment for a range of frames.
Frame Rate: Specifies the playback rate in frames per second. Use Every Nth Frame to preview a regular sampling of the animation. For example; a value of 8 includes only every eighth frame in the preview.
Image Size: Specifies the size of the preview as a percent. 100% is 101 x 99 (the size of a sample window in the 3 x 2 array).
