TIME AND PLACE

The 2nd Conference TELSIKS'95 will be held
from Tuesday October 10, through Thursday
October 12, 1995, at the Faculty of
Electronic Engineering, University of Nis,
Yugoslavia.

Nis is the administrative, economic and the
cultural center of the South-East Serbia.
Nis stands on the site of the Roman
settlement of Naissus, the birthplace of
Constantine the Great, in the valley of the
river Nisava.

Nis is rich with ancient monuments which
testify about the stormy history of this
city. Among the many monuments there is the
unique monument in the world Cele Kula
(Tower of Sculls), built by Turks in 1809.
with the sculls of Serbian rebels killed in
the battle. Also, in the center of Nis
there is the Fortress with the bridge as
the symbol of the city. The memorial
complex on Bubanj Hill, camp "Crveni krst"
(Red cross) and many other monuments from
the near past are important cultural-
historical monuments of Nis, too.

Nis is known as the greatest gate between
East and West, because it is on the
crossroad of the three important directions
of the international highway, railway and
air traffic.

Thanks to electronics industry Ei Holding
Co., founded in 1948, which is the leading
domastic manufacturer of wide electronics
products, Nis is occasionally called "The
City of Electronics".

Nis is the second university center in
Serbia. The Faculty of Electronic
Engineering, one of the organizers of the
conference TELSIKS'95 and one of the most
perspective university institutions in the
country, gives the great contribution in
the development of the University of Nis.

The spa of Niska Banja, near Nis, is well
known by the possibilities for the
treatment of heart and vascular diseases.
