To Steve,

the obvious advantage of a 3.5 HDD is like you say, price, a 30GB HDD will
cost you less than £100 (ukp) but you will need another cable to connect
this to your A1200. However I would advise you to purchase an IDE adaptor

A1200 and this plugs onto your m/b and you can use then standard 3.5 IDE
cables, this is what I did when I first expanded my A1200,
