Subject:A3000 SCSI hard disk problems

Hello

As the subject states; it's a problem with the SCSI hard disk i've bought
from Amibench. (With some other bits that are fine). Now, i recently
aquired an A3000 which in all respects is perfect for what I need (already
stuffed a Picasso II, GoldenGate 386, and ISA SVGA card in it), except it
only has a paltry 40MB Quantum hard disk. Well until today when i received
the 1Gig SCSi hard disk i got for it.

Now, I'm not very au fait with SCSI. since my A1200 desktop uses IDE (and
has a SCSI interface with nothing on it, yet), and my main Amiga A1200TPPC
is all IDE based. (3 IDE devices)

Assuming it to be a simple procedure, I removed the old 40MB Quantum drive
and replaced it with the 1gig Fijitsu mechanism. Made sure the blue end of
the ribbon cable was on pin 1 and plugged in the powwer; and switchwed on
the A3000. The super kickstart menu appears and i click on the 2.x floppy
option and duly insert the superkickstart disk. Then eventually i get the
feed me a disk screen. This is Kickstart 2.04, 37.175. I then insert the
Install 2.1 diskette. Go to HDToolBox; but no drives it says are attached!!

The hard disk does power up, and whirrs around, but it doesn't make the
familiar clunking and grinding noise when it switches on, iyswim (ie: the
Amiga is reading the info from the RDB or whatever it's doing :)

Unfortunately there are a number of jumpers but i hacven't got a clue as to
which ones are used for the SCSI ID, i coul'nt find similar ones on the old
quantum drive, which i too plugged in a again; and it's all fine??

Is this a ID related problem, what ID is the A3000's SCSI controller? (0 or
7?), it was previously used on a zorro II A1200T system, but sold because
there was no DMA on the interface and was too slow.

Could this be a reselection problem, or even related to SuperKickstart??
Somebody help me!! :))

All the best,
