Well hello,
Just got a modem (no make on the box, 28800 bps - what the hell? I only paid
for the postage :) for my Amiga. I know it's been used on an Amiga
previously to me owning it.
Now, I've got NetConnect 2, and I tried Genesis after setting all the stuff
up. It didn't even dial, so I gave up. Demo of Miami does dial, however,
there are two problems.
1) When using tone dialing, the tones are all crackly, meaning the modem
doesn't actually do a great deal when it's finished dialling. I did a sound
sample to let people hear what it sounds like:

2) When I use pulse dialing, or tone dialing (when it works), I get the
noise found in http://members.tripod.com/bullock_n/dial.wav which just
continues until the message 'no carrier' is displayed.
I've tried with several different ISPs
Since I'm not at all familiar with technical stuff regarding modems and
dialup connections, I've probably left loads of crucial stuff out...
