So do I. I like to convert them to ascii, except the links or page
numbers become useless. With a plain text doc I can use a word
search in CygnusEd and scroll rapidly through the text.

Not just you! A guide needs a really good index - too often
lacking. And html docs (and web sites) are serious time wasters as
one follows links all round the place.

Online 'help' is one of the many reasons I dislike my PC, and the
Windows 'Help' is about as much use as an ashtray on a motor-bike.
