It would not have to be every time, just once every so often. Even then, it
could be activated to only verify when the user is already online. If you
are not online when it wants to verify, it could display a mesage box with
the option of 'verify later'. Of course it would only let you do this so
many times, after which it could lock you out until you do verify.

Which is why I suggested a dual protection process, one for everybody which
would also mean the software could be used straight from the box without
having to wait for a keyfile, and one for those online.

And not a problem with my idea :-)
I think a process such as mine would be less likely to be viable with games
anyway since the manuals may not be large enough to discourage photocopying.
