That is my way of thinking. In my opinion, the edukashun cistern should
revolve around what you're likely to use. I use algebra all the time because
of my programming etc. (although not in the more advanced levels, just the
x=x+1 kinda stuff :-) but I'm never likely to need to know the distance or
area underneath a curve ;-)
