I had the same thing for ages. I was using one of the blue leather
patterns from workbench as the backdrop in MUI apps. Then a few weeks
ago, I decided to try changing all the backdrops, etc in MUI for
simple colour palette pens - the result is no more trashing of the
underlying MUI screens. I don't know why it happens, but that seems to
get around the problem.
