I used to own a Viper V before this current one i have, and i never had a memory SIMM problem, when i bought it or upgraded it, but this one does. Anyway there are three jumpers on the ViperV at the the bottom, from top to bottom they are: Board Enabled/Disabled 50ns/60ns RAM speed 50MHz/25MHz FPU speed Or the top one could be the bottom and vice versa, whatever way, the middle one is 50ns speed, close the jumper (so the red plug or whatever is NOT over both pins; remove it altogether. Hope this helps. Sorry for the slight inaccuracy, i can't get to the Viper V and A1200 it's in atm. Nick.
