Subject: | God has an Amiga :) |
Hi,
a short time ago I mailed this list because I was having problems
getting a Hypercomm3+ to be recognised by my A1200, 1260, zorro3 etc.
Loads of people mailed me with help, particular thanks to Eds
Borthwick.
Anyway, despite sorting out the timing problem on my 1.d.4 & trying
all the advice it still wouldn't work.
I swapped my m/b for my dad's (still a 1.d.4) butit still didn't work.
I wasn't sure if it was the zorro busboard, or the h3+ or the m/b. I
was a little worried 'cos I'd also ordered a Picasso II, & as it was
in transit I couldn't cancel it.
However, when it came I plugged it all in, & not only was the
graphics card recognised, but so was the hypercomm3, so now I have my
modem & printer running thru' the 3+, & my wb in 1024x768 which is
great, all on a 1.d.4, with no timing fix :)
Is this some sort of miracle, or is it easily explainable, I reckon
it's divine intervention, perhaps God has an Amiga :)
However, I do have one problem, It seems to eat up a hell of a lot of
Fast Ram. I have a Blizzard 1260, with 16mb. When I used to run in
multiscan prod. 128 colours I had about 12-13mb of fast ram left, but
the display was slow.
Now running in 1024x768,256 cols. it's a little quicker, but on
startup I have only 6.5 - 7.5 mb of fast left. Reducing the resolution
helps a little but I still lose 7-8 mb. Is this normal?
I'm using Picasso96, but this is the only software I've added since
installing the gfx card.
Thanks,
& remember, if God has an Amiga we must be doing something right:)
Al.
