It is? I can find no reference to an "@endbase", Heddley certainly doesn't
create one, and its not mentioned in any of the Amigaguide documentation I
have. I've just looked at the reply I sent last night and I also incorrectly
said the same. It should have been "@endnode" NOT "@endbase". Sorry for that.

Agreed.
One thing to keep in mind. Although you can load handcoded guides into
Heddley, I've come across some badley written guides that Heddley has
problems with. If the guide only has a few nodes it might be worth saving
those out as seperate text files and starting the guide from scratch.
While not strictly needed, it's also worth the effort of filling in the
complete details in the document attributes for each node. This also allows
you skip over certain nodes when just using the browse buttons. I used this
on the last Magnum_Opus.guide. You might want to load that into Heddley to
see this.
One last word of caution, don't use the wordwrap feature in the document
attributes. Just set the wordwrap to 76 in the main settings. It causes too
many problems and incompatibilities with older versions of Workbench and the
amigaguide library.
