Subject:VGA monitor prob: bust video port?

Hi Everybody,

I have a very large problem:

I've just got hold of a 2nd hand svga monitor and external
scandoubler/flickerfixer. Of course, the scandoubler didn't work, it
was just dead :( No led lit up or anything.

"Bother" I though, but as I had an old 9 pin monitor lead (from a
CM8833 2 i think) I went down to maplins and got a 9->15 pin vga
adapter, so I could at least use the amigas 31khz modes

That didn't work either though, the monitor just showed some
static
and switched to power saving (this was in DBLPal, by the way)

To make sure the monitor was ok, I swapped it with my PC one. The
new monitor worked fine in the PC, and the PC monitor did show
something from my amiga, a blue smudge of a screen that just rolled
down the monitor.

Now, could this be caused by my Amiga having a slightly damaged
rgb
connector, as I remember with my old monitor a while back the display
got flickery and then went black. I got it back by pressing a switch
at the back of it, but it still wouldn't work in the old mode again
(not sure what the switch was mind you)

Or is it that my scandoubler is simply broken and the CM8833 lead
is wired wrong for a vga monitor (does anybody have a wiring diagram
for an amiga->vga adapter?)

See ya :)
