So from what you and others tell me, I'd need to get all new
software, OR an Amiga emulator, OR switch over to AmigaDOS.

Well I've no objection to that.

Scream!!!! I've managed never to get closer than 10 feet to a Mac!

"Support for other systems software" is evidently the core of the
matter, and that's enabling developers to advance the new
generation of 'Amigas' - by emulation. That's excellent, but
doesn't warrant me using Linux for a while yet.

Many thanks to you and a number of others who have replied or
commented on replies to my questions, and have added to my mental
database :-)
