The editor shouldn't be doing the decoding, THOR takes care of that,
creates the event and passes it to the editor. I've used GoldED with an
XPK packed database, although I don't bother with XPK now, it slows
things down too much.
It might help if you run ValidateTHOR after disabling XPK, that should
unpack all current messages,
