The third test cycle has begun, and unless anything really horrible
happens then it'll be released at the end of it. I've no idea what's up
with your PPP stuff - what sort of messages were you getting in the logs?

Silly clicky sounds are trivial to add, whereas fixing bugs isn't always
:) Still, I haven't run into any nasty crashy bugs since I upgraded to
Gnome 1.2. It seems pretty solid now.

What's really nice is that that's implemented as a special case of the
panel rather than something else entirely. They finally seem to be getting
the message about using common objects between aps, there's a really nice
Gnome web browser that uses the Mozilla engine but doesn't bother with all
the extra stuff (like the XML user interface), the new file manager has a
bunch of neat features and is being designed by people who actually have
experience of proper UI design and I really love the level of artwork on
the icons. Gnome 2 ought to be very nice.
