That's odd! Try running optimess directly on the affected system

Thor/bin/optimess internet

However, I've just re-read your original message and see that the file
with the XPK problem is an outgoing message text file, not a database
file. you could try deleting the event and starting again, or does it
happen every time you try to add a new event?

If that's the case, delete the Event.#? files from BBS0 and then run
ValidateTHOR.
