Half the complaints I hear about this with PC card from the past few years
turns out to be poor input level matching with whatever people are plugging
the card outputs into. Half the comparisons I hear do not compare at equal
volumes, which has a big affect on perceived tonality (see Fletcher-Munson
curve). Half the complaints fail to take into account that a signal without
much true treble at an equal output level tends to thus focus the energy in
the bass range. Then there are those comparing a bad sample played from a
good card to what the Amiga does. None of this helps.
Eeeesh. It's all grist for the mill.
